Arsenal hosts Greek champion Olympiacos on Tuesday (29 September 2009) in a Group H match of Champions League 2009-10. Both teams had a winning start to the Champions league campaign this season. Arsenal pulled off an excellent 3-2 come-from-back victory over Standard Liege, while Olympiacos defeated Dutch side AZ 1-0 in their Champions league openers. So, the winner of the game will move to the no. 1 position in point table. With Arsenal playing at home, it seems that the Gunners will have some advantage, but you can not rule out the chances of Olympiacos, given their recent form.

Match: Arsenal vs Olympiacos, Group H, UEFA Champions League 2009-10

Date: 29 September 2009

Venue: Emirates Stadium, London, England

Kick off: 18:45 GMT (Local Time 19:45)

Following two successive defeats at the hands of Manchester United and Manchester City, Arsenal has won four games on a row including the inspirational 4-0 thrashing of Wigan Athletic. Arsenal might have struggled against Fulham to pick up three points, but there are some positives in their 1-0 away win. First of all, 21-year-old Italian goalkeeper Vito Mannone showed that he has come of age at last and is now ready to play at this level regularly. Moreover, striker Robin van Persir, who scored the winner, has proved that he is now capable of capitalizing the chances more than ever.

Arsenal is currently at the no. 5 position in the premier league standing with 12 points from 6 games, though they are level with 6th placed Manchester City in terms of points. To be honest, Arsenal’s league standing does not reflect their impressing on-field performance. It is true that Arsenal lost both the games at Manchester, but if you look at the two games, you can see that their performance was not bad. Rather, for some time, Arsenal looked in dominating form. For example, against United, they conceded two goals through penalty and an own goal. Against City, they played toe-to-toe most of the time, despite conceding two late goals.

Olympiacos has been in high-flying form so far this season. Since the arrival of new coach Brazilian Zico, the Greek champions have won all of their four games. Zico replaced Temuri Ketsbaia as the new manager of Olympiacos just before their Champions league opener against AZ.

Ahead of the trip to London, Zico is now worried about the tiredness of the players as his boys played 4 games in the last 10 days. However, he is confident that his side will do well in London and expects his players to show the winning mentality in the game.

Drogba was carried off during last weekend's win over Tottenham but Ancelotti was relieved to discover the Ivory Coast striker was only suffering from cramp rather than the more serious calf problem feared at the time.

Chelsea travel north with a three-point lead over champions Manchester United -- who travel to Stoke -- and a six-point cushion over a chasing pack made up of Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Tottenham.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's team selection at Stoke will be the subject of much attention with Michael Owen, after his last-gasp winner against Manchester City at the weekend and a lively display in the League Cup win over Wolves in midweek, pushing for a starting slot alongside Wayne Rooney.

Ben Foster's status as first-choice back-up for the currently-injured Edwin van der Sar could also be under threat following a midweek display from Tomasz Kuszczak that contrasted with Foster's nervy performance in the derby.

Regardless of their line-up, Rory Delap believes Stoke are capable of upsetting United at the Britannia Stadium, although he expects the champions to overhaul Chelsea over the course of the season.Cole has been sidelined with a cruciate knee problem for eight months but came back and set up Salomon Kalou's winner just after the interval.

Tomasz Kuszczak had been tipped to step in for his first Premier League start of the season after he kept a clean sheet in the Carling Cup win over Wolves. However, Ferguson has been quick to give Foster a public vote of confidence, insisting he will play at the Britannia Stadium. It was a good opportunity for Tomasz to play on Wednesday but Ben will play [at Stoke]," said the United boss. "Ben has not had a lot of game experience but he will be OK.Ferguson is more concerned Van der Sar is available again this season after he suffered two broken fingers in a pre-season game against Bayern Munich in July.

Meanwhile, Ferguson confirmed he expects first-choice goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to be out for another three weeks. For three seasons now, the 38-year-old has waited until the depths of winter to determine his fate, which the answer coming up positive each time. It has always been the case with Edwin that he has made the decision around the end of December and it will be this same this season too," said boss Sir Alex Ferguson. There is going to be a time when he decides it is time but he never does anything at this stage of the season. It was originally thought the former Fulham star would be out for two months, but Ferguson has confirmed he will be sidelined for another three weeks, meaning the first time he will be available is the encounter with Bolton on October 17.

Choose 'em: Unless he falls victim to Carlo Ancelotti's mild tinkering habit, Michael Ballack (9.86) looks a great shout for Chelsea. The German costs half as much as Frank Lampard (19.22) but has only slightly fewer points - 53.5 to 67.5 - from the same number of games. Yossi Benayoun (12.24) might have tricked The Fantasist once, but he's not going to do it again. Sign him quick, before he bangs in another hat-trick. No apology for banging on about Liverpool players - they're playing Hull for pity's sake - wouldn't you say Steven Gerrard (20.51) looks tempting? A couple of so-so performances have made Aaron Lennon (11.50) affordable, and you have to think he'll flippin' murder Burnley. And how about loveable El-Hadji Diouf (7.27) against Aston Villa?

Lose 'em: The Fantasist has flip-flopped on Benayoun, but it remains resolutely anti-Ryan Giggs (14.65). Only in Fantasy terms, you understand. When Tim Cahill (9.97) isn't leaping like a salmon, it seems he isn't doing very much at all. He averages just 4.4 points per game and should be left alone, even against Portsmouth (gulp). Look up the word 'obdurate' in the dictionary and you'll see the big ugly mugs of the Birmingham back four staring back at you. Which makes the normally magnificent Matthew Taylor (16.24) a risk - although he should get some free-kicks. It was good to see Joe Cole (8.94) and Yuri Zhirkov (5.65) in Carling Cup action, but it would be a surprise if either makes much of an impact on Saturday.

The 30-year-old, who will wear the number 10 shirt, arrived at the club's training headquarters on Friday morning to put pen to paper,He will go straight into the squad for Saturday evening's Coca-Cola Championship clash with Ipswich at Portman Road. The striker is well down the pecking order at Villa Park following his return from injury and manager Martin O'Neill has sanctioned a temporary spell away from Villa Park.

Newcastle are in need of an added attacking threat despite their fine start to the season, with Shola Ameobi currently sidelined with a foot injury.Nigel Reo-Coker has been recalled to the Aston Villa squad after his training ground bust-up with manager Martin O'Neill and could feature in Saturday's match at Blackburn.Reo-Coker was dropped from O'Neill's plans for last weekend's league game with Portsmouth after the pair had clashed at Villa's Bodymoor Heath training complex.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has urged David Nugent to concentrate on his football following the striker's loan move to Burnley from Portsmouth.Redknapp brought Nugent to Fratton Park two years ago but the once-capped England international struggled on the south coast and has moved to Turf Moor for six months with the view to a permanent transfer. The 24-year-old, who netted twice last week on the Burnley debut, only scored six goals for Pompey, with Redknapp suggesting he struggled to focus on his game. Nugent has a chance to haunt his former boss as Burnley visit White Hart Lane tomorrow.

I can see why (Portsmouth manager) Paul Hart loaned him out," Redknapp said. "Maybe he'll get a new lease of life, get himself going again and dedicate himself to playing football. If he does that he can score goals. He's proved that before. Now he has an opportunity to just get on with his football and show people what he can do. That's what it's about.Campbell is in limbo at present after walking out on Notts County, just one game into his League Two career.

Redknapp is a huge admirer of Campbell and reports claimed he would look to swoop for the former England international in a bid to ease his defensive worries.Campbell will be free to join a new club when the transfer window opens in January, but Redknapp has ruled out a return to White Hart Lane. Some people are already claiming I am now going to sign Sol. Well, let's nail that one straight away - it ain't going to happen," Redknapp wrote in his column in The Sun.

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is likely to make several changes but Zoltan Gera may retain his place in the starting line up after scoring the 25-yard screamer which put the Cottagers ahead. Simon Davies suffered a setback from his foot injury during the game at Eastlands and will be unavailable while Erik Nevland, Andrew Johnson (shoulder) and Toni Kallio (Achilles)also miss out.Andrei Arshavin and Theo Walcott are both available to Arsene Wenger after recovering from groin and side injuries respectively. Robin van Persie is also expected to feature despite what Wenger described as "a little problem". Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia is still struggling with a stomach problem so Vito Mannone could be in goal. Denilson (back), Johan Djourou (knee), and Samir Nasri (fractured fibula) all remain sidelined.

Robin van Persie has admitted he has exaggerated a fall if he feels the challenge warrants a penalty as the issue of diving continues apace.Van Persie's comments come after his team-mate Eduardo was banned by UEFA for alleged diving against Celtic in the Champions League qualifier although his suspension was subsequently overturned.Asked if he had exaggerated a fall, Van Persie told The Times: "Yes, I have. Sometimes when you are in the middle of the action and you get a little push then you are in the right to show the ref that you are pushed. He added: "That's not really diving. It's just showing,'Come on, he just pushed me, so I can't score now.'

The 27-year-old, who has been sidelined since last season with a knee injury, was watching Everton's 4-0 League Cup third-round win at Hull City when he was forced to hand over jewellery and the keys to his Range Rover car by three men.Fortunately, nobody was hurt during the incident and the car was found abandoned a short distance away," a spokesman for Cheshire Police said of the robbery in Knutsford.

An Everton spokesman told the BBC: "Phil was shaken by the incident. This is perfectly understandable because he is a husband and father first and a footballer second."Everton's England defender Phil Jagielka was robbed at knifepoint by thieves who burst into his Cheshire home while he was watching his team on television.Sylvain Distin, who joined from Portsmouth, and Dutchman Jonny Heitinga, brought in from Atletico Madrid, only arrived at the club late on in the transfer window.

The pair seem to have settled well into the back four, which has been depleted by the absence of Phil Jagielka, who is still recovering from a ruptured cruciate knee ligament, and the sale of Joleon Lescott to Manchester City.It is getting better and a bit more like us. I know there is more to come; we can play better and we can control games for longer periods," said the Toffees boss.

Atletico, who were trounced 6-1 in the same fixture last year, will be without first-choice goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo and defender Alvaro Dominguez who are on international duty with Spain at the Under-20 World Cup.

Where the pressure is on Atletico to perform at the Nou Camp, Xerez are under no illusions about their chances in the Spanish capital as they seek their first ever point in La Liga.

"With the names they have at Real Madrid this is going to be a very different game for us," said Xerez's Argentine defender Leandro. "It would be great to get a point ... a miracle."

Third-placed Valencia and last-season's Copa Del Rey finalists Athletic Bilbao are the only other sides with 100 per cent records. Valencia host Sporting Gijon on Sunday and Bilbao receive Villarreal on the same day at.

Valencia's flying start to the season owes much to the form of Spanish internationals David Villa and David Silva, whom they hung on to over the summer despite interest from a number of clubs.

"It's always difficult to compete with Real and Barca because of the money and the players they have, but we hope to be in the fight (for the title) and causing them problems," said Silva.

Watch Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Premier League Live Streaming - Tottenham's great start to the new season stuttered last weekend but against Chelsea on Sunday they have the chance to get right back on track.

Like the game with Manchester United, the Chelsea clash will be a real test of Spurs' ability to mix it with the big boys. Last week, they failed as they allowed United to dominate the game at White Hart Lane, but if Harry Redknapp's side can hold their own at Stamford Bridge, they can put the result against the champions down as a blip.

The intense rivalry between these two clubs already makes this a mouth-watering fixture, but with Spurs finding themselves at the business end of the table this so far this season, there is sure to be an added edge. The atmosphere at the Bridge promises to be special. It's going to be interesting to see how he performs against his former club, considering the pressure he will be underHe expects a warm reception from his former fans, but I'm not so sure. It won't be as bad as Arsenal fans' reaction to Adebayor last weekend, but he won't be welcomed with open arms either.

West Ham fans have always reserved a special place in their hearts for Tevez and they cheered his name when he appeared against them for United. But he has generally struggled to perform when faced with his former club, so it will be interesting to see how he reacts with the tables turned. The Adebayor situation has only increased the pressure on his shoulders and it could turn out to be a difficult day for him. But if he shows the same kind of commitment he displayed during his time at United, he may yet prove to be a thorn in his former club's side.

Vidic went on to say that they "don't talk about" Ronaldo any more since he moved to Real Madrid. He added that Wayne Rooney is "the best player in the Premier League and on current form perhaps the best in the world" and that the former Everton forward will stay at the club for life.

"(Rooney) loves United and the club loves him," Vidic said. "The relationship he has with the fans is like a marriage and he won't break that."

Much has been made of former team-mate Tevez returning to Old Trafford with his new team but urged the fans to remember all he gave for the club.

"He is a great guy and that fans loved him, but I am not sure what reception he will get," he said.

Despite the focus of all the papers on the Manchester derby, there is some transfer gossip.

Chelsea transfer supremo Frank Arnesen is reportedly still tracking Benfica winger Angel Di Maria (Daily Mirror), even though they will probably not be able to buy him until 2011 - by which point Arnesen is likely to be out of a job.

Kamara struck the equaliser against the Bulgarian league leaders in their Europa League fixture, picking up Erik Nevland's pass and rounding goalkeeper Ivan Karadzhov before finding an empty net.

It was his first goal of the season, cancelling out Michel Platini's opener and marking the end of an unsettled period that saw him linked with a move to Newcastle.

The Magpies expressed an interest in signing Kamara, only to be told by Hodgson he still has a role to play at the club.

"Diomansy took the goal very well. We've see him do that so many times," Hodgson said. "When he span away I was confident he would get behind the defence and compose himself. It still wasn't an easy finish - it was on his left foot as well.

"It's once of those goals where you think 'open goal, he should score' - but I've seen many missed in my time. There's no truth in the stories he's going to Newcastle."

The Australia international was a free agent after his contract at Upton Park expired last summer.

The 31-year-old passed a medical at the club's Finch Farm training ground on Thursday morning.

Neill will increase Everton's defensive options after recent injury to Phil Neville and the sale of Joleon Lescott, while Phil Jagielka remains on the sidelines.

The former Blackburn and Millwall player is the fourth permanent addition to David Moyes' squad since the end of last season following Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Sylvain Distin and John Heitinga.

Neill, who famously turned down a move to Merseyside rivals Liverpool two years ago, reportedly rejected the offer of a new one-year contract at West Ham in the summer to pursue other optionsEverton have signed former West Ham defender Lucas Neill on a one-year deal.Premier League - Neill completes Everton move

West Ham have failed to score in their last three meetings with Liverpool and in the corresponding game last season, Liverpool won 3-0 with two goals from Steven Gerrard and a third, from Ryan Babel. West Ham have beaten Liverpool just once at home in the last seven meetings.

Dean Ashton, Herita Ilunga and and Luis Boa Morte are out for West Ham while Liverpool are still without Daniel Agger and Alberto Aquilani. The home side have new signings Alessandro Diamanti, Manuel Da Costa and Guillermo Franco all available.

West Ham (probable, 4-4-2): Green; Faubert, Upson, Tomkins, Gabbidon; Kovac, Noble, Parker, Stanislas; Cole, Franco.
Liverpool (probable, 4-2-3-1): Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Carragher, Insua; Gerrard, Lucas; Kuyt, Benayoun, Riera; Torres.

Hull City vs Birmingham Live

Hull were thrashed 4-1 by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last time, while the Blues suffered the agony of a derby defeat to Aston Villa after Gabriel Agbonlahor's late winner.

Managers Phil Brown and Alex McLeish will be targeting a positive result here given their sides have made steady, if unspectacular, starts to the campaign, taking just four points from their opening five games.

Brown will be especially eager to turn the KC Stadium into a fortress this term, with the Tigers only success so far coming at home to Bolton.

While Birmingham have yet to pick up a point on their travels, McLeish will have taken heart from the way his side performed in narrow defeats at Manchester United and high-flying Spurs.

Bolton vs Stoke City Live

Stoke City are enjoying a solid start to their second consecutive Premier League season and they will aim to continue their encouraging form at the expense of a struggling Bolton at Reebok Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile Bolton were recently boosted by their first Premier League win on the new season and they will aim to extend the winning form to two matches in a row.

Bolton Wanderers start to the season included three consecutive defeats – two at home and one on the away – before they snapped the losing streak at Portsmouth with a 3:2 victory. That they beat Portsmouth, a side that is still struggling to earn its first point in Premier League is hardly an indicator of an uptick in their form. Soccer bettors should not read too much into that result. They simply got lucky against a side with which, up to that point, they shared similar abysmal form.

Stoke City on the other hand occupy a modest eighth spot in the Premier League table, having hauled seven points from five cycles. They are 2-1-2 so far; the most recent result was a 2:1 home loss to visiting Chelsea. Chelsea is the current Premier League standard, in first place and on a five-match winning streak. That the Blues beat the Potters at their stomping ground is hardly a surprising result and definitely not an indication of a dip in form for the Potters either.

While Aston Villa have recovered from being booed off after 45 minutes of the season to make their best start for more than a decade, Portsmouth are all at sea.Five matches, five defeats: it is Portsmouth's worst start to a league season, and the south coast side are a shipwreck waiting to happen.

They are in imminent danger of becoming the first top-flight club to lose their opening six matches since Leicester City 26 years ago. It would also condemn them to their longest run of top-flight defeats since a club record of 11 was set in 1987.

New Portsmouth owner Sulaiman Al Fahim remains convinced that he and manager Paul Hart can steer Pompey into calmer waters. However, chief executive Peter Storrie has been forced to deny telling supporters' groups that Al Fahim had not yet refinanced the club as promised.

Arsenal will now be looking to return to winning form when they welcome Wigan Athletic on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.

Wigan Athletic on the other hand snapped a three-match losing streak when they took the 1:0 triumph over West Ham United last week. They will aim to extend their winning form at the expense of Arsenal.

Match Time: 10:00 A.M. Eastern Time Saturday 19, 2009

Venue: Emirates Stadium

Soccer Betting Verdict: The bookies fancy a home win and many goals in this match as Arsenal are conspicuously favoured at -450 to win outright and the totals are listed at 3 goals over/under.

The Gunners have only played one match at home thus far, a 4:1 victory over Portsmouth. They are 2-0-2 overall in four cycles in Premier League action. The two losses came to Manchester United and Man City and were a revealing sign of the inherent weakness of the Arsenal bench that is riddled with injuries.

They recently snapped the two-match losing streak when they beat Standard de Liege in European action, coming back from two-goals down to win 3:2. The comeback win will be a huge confidence boost for Arsene Wenger’s men. Another positive is the return of Tomas Rosicky. The Czech midfielder has been sidelined for a long time with injury, but was seen playing for most of the Champions League match and his return to full action will be a much-needed boost for the Gunners.

Wigan Athletic are struggling right now in Premier League action but their plight is hardly surprising. They are under new stewardship with Roberto Martinez and the team is currently in the re-building phase after losing several key players during the summer transfer window. That they returned to winning ways over a solid West Ham United is encouraging, but not enough to convince bookies they are ready to take the victory on the away.

Welcome to Brunley vs Sunderland Live Streaming Online Information zone
Burnley are still missing captain Steven Caldwell with a groin problem, while Sunderland may be forced to do without midfielder Lee Cattermole.

Cattermole has a heel injury and is rated extremely doubtful by Sunderland boss Steve Bruce.

Also struggling is George McCartney and the left back could be replaced by new signing John Mensah.

Upfront, the in-form Darren Bent will continue to partner Kenwyne Jones.

Burnley manager Owen Coyle is unlikely to make many changes from the side that lost 4-0 to Liverpool. However, on loan striker David Nugent could replace Martin Paterson to partner Steven Fletcher in attack.

Defender Michael Duff is back in contention, but Coyle is set to stick with Andre Bikey and Clarke Carlisle as his preferred centre back partnership.

Hungary is probably the most notable outsiders looking great to make to the finals with some record of accomplishment in international football this year.

They have matched up well with competition so far and will look to keep it up against Portugal.

However, it has been a long time since the Hungarians had their moment in the spotlight. Since the days of 1950’s the Hungarian Football has declined gradually from World Cup finals to no world cup appearances for about 23 years, and they have not even qualified for the Euro finals for about 37 years.

England will look to secure their place at the World Cup when they take on Croatia at Wembley on Wednesday night.

Fabio Capello’s side currently have a perfect record in World Cup Qualification with seven wins from seven and another victory over Croatia would guarantee the Three Lions’ presence in South Africa next summer.

However, Croatia are currently ranked ninth in the FIFA World Rankings (England are seventh) and England fans will be right to be wary after Croatia denied them a place at Euro 2008 when they won at Wembley two years ago.

This is the second consecutive qualifying section the two countries have been drawn in and the match at Wembley will be the seventh meeting overall.

England currently hold the historical edge with three wins to Croatia’s two, but the Croats have won two of the last three, including home and away wins over Steve McClaren’s England in Euro 2008 qualifying.
