Stoke City are enjoying a solid start to their second consecutive Premier League season and they will aim to continue their encouraging form at the expense of a struggling Bolton at Reebok Stadium on Saturday.
Meanwhile Bolton were recently boosted by their first Premier League win on the new season and they will aim to extend the winning form to two matches in a row.
Bolton Wanderers start to the season included three consecutive defeats – two at home and one on the away – before they snapped the losing streak at Portsmouth with a 3:2 victory. That they beat Portsmouth, a side that is still struggling to earn its first point in Premier League is hardly an indicator of an uptick in their form. Soccer bettors should not read too much into that result. They simply got lucky against a side with which, up to that point, they shared similar abysmal form.
Stoke City on the other hand occupy a modest eighth spot in the Premier League table, having hauled seven points from five cycles. They are 2-1-2 so far; the most recent result was a 2:1 home loss to visiting Chelsea. Chelsea is the current Premier League standard, in first place and on a five-match winning streak. That the Blues beat the Potters at their stomping ground is hardly a surprising result and definitely not an indication of a dip in form for the Potters either.
